Share Your WiFi Information From Another Apple Device

By far the simplest and easiest way to connect your Apple TV to WiFi without the remote is to share your WiFi credentials from another Apple device, the only stipulation being that the device you use also needs to have been connected to the WiFi you want to connect your Apple TV to.

First, you’ll need to make sure that your Apple device has iOS 9 or later as the WiFi sharing feature was not added to iOS until this point.

However, once this is confirmed, you’ll be able to easily share your WiFi network name and password with any other Apple device.

Simply ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on on your Apple device and turn on the Apple TV. From here just touch your Apple TV with your device and follow the instructions that appear on both screens.

If done successfully, your Apple TV will be quickly connected to your WiFi network without you ever needing to come close to a remote.

Use your iPhone or iPad To Control Apple TV

If you are unable to pull off the first method, this method works just as well and can allow you to fully control any function of your Apple TV from your iPhone or iPad until you are able to find your Siri Remote.

The steps you need to take to do this depend on what version of iOS you have. For any iPhone with iOS 12 or later or any iPad with iPadOS13 or later, as soon as your device detects your Apple TV, the Apple TV controls will be automatically added to your device’s control center. However, if this doesn’t work you can add the Apple TV controls manually through the Settings menu.

Just turn on your Apple TV, ensure that it is connected with an ethernet cable, and open up your device’s settings menu.

Then click on Control Center. Once you’ve arrived at the Control Center menu you’ll see a list of controls that can be added to your device’s Control Center. Just find the one that says “Apple TV Remote” and click the green plus sign next to it to add it.

Now you’ll be able to control your Apple TV like normal from your iPhone or iPad.

To connect your Apple TV to WiFi, simply use your device to go to your Apple TV’s Settings menu. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the back of your Apple TV and then click Network and the WiFi. Select the network that you want to connect to and follow the directions on the screen to get your Apple TV connected in no time.

Use A Normal TV Remote To Control Apple TV

Another way that you can get your Apple TV connected to WiFi without the Siri Remote is by using any other normal TV remote. After all, it’s more likely than not that you have an old remote laying around, so you might as well use it.

However, it is worth noting that to set up your Apple TV to be controlled by another normal TV remote, you will need to get to the setting menu using the above method.

Still, if you find a remote with directional buttons that you would like to use with your Apple TV, you need to turn on your Apple TV, make sure an ethernet cable is connected to it, and navigate to the Settings menu. From here go to General and click on Remotes.

Then you’ll simply need to click on learn remote and follow the instructions that it gives you to teach your Apple TV how to use the new normal TV remote. Now that you have your new remote set up, you can disconnect the ethernet cable and navigate to the settings menu.

Just like before, once at the settings menu, click on General then Network, and then Configure WiFI using the standard TV remote. From here you can simply follow the directions on the screen and your Apple TV will be connected to your WiFi network, not to mention you now have a temporary replacement remote for the Siri Remote that you lost.
