What is the Difference Between JBL Connect and Connect Plus?
I was recently in the market for a high-quality speaker, and I had heard good things about JBL speakers.
I had been exposed to JBL speakers from friends, and they all loved their speakers.
This led me to look into various JBL speakers for my next purchase.
While researching these speakers I noticed that there was a way to connect multiple speakers to each other at the same time.
Since my friends had JBL speakers, I wanted to get a speaker that would be able to connect to theirs as well.
This led me to research the JBL Connect and JBL Connect Plus technologies, and I was able to find out some distinct differences between the two.
What’s the difference between the JBL Connect and the Connect Plus?
The main difference between the JBL Connect technology and JBL Connect Plus technology is the number of JBL speakers that you connect at one time. The JBL Connect technology allows you to connect two speakers at the same time. The JBL Connect Plus technology allows you to connect 100 or more JBL speakers at the same time.
If you are just looking for the number of speakers that each technology allows you to connect, then you do not have to read any further.
However, there are also some distinct differences between the two technologies that may affect which speaker you purchase.
So, if I were you, I would keep reading to fully understand the differences between the two technologies.
Are JBL Connect and Connect Plus Compatible?
Unfortunately, no. The JBL Connect and JBL Connect Plus technologies are not compatible with one another.
If you have a JBL speaker that has the JBL Connect technology, then you can only connect it with other JBL speakers that have the JBL Connect technology.
It is the same way with the speakers that have the JBL Connect Plus technology. JBL speakers with JBL Connect Plus will not be able to connect with JBL speakers that have the JBL Connect technology.
What is JBL Connect Plus?
JBL Connect Plus is a technology that is utilized by JBL speakers to connect to one another.
By connecting to one another, the speakers are then able to play the same audio.
This is often used at parties or large gatherings of people to enhance the volume/range of the music that may be playing.
The JBL Connect technology provides the same function as JBL Connect Plus. However, it is only able to connect two speakers at one time.
This limits the volume that can be reached with audio and range that the audio that will be able to cover.
What is the Maximum Range Between JBL Speakers While Connected?
The speakers that are connected to one another should be no more than 30 ft. apart.
Once speakers are separated by more than 30 ft., then the connection will begin to be interrupted.
You may notice an immediate disconnect between the two speakers if they are more than 30 ft. apart, but it is likely that you will start to hear the audio going in and out.
When the audio starts to become muffled or go in and out, that is the sign to bring the speakers closer together.
Also, you will need to keep the device that you are using to source the music within 30 ft. of the speakers as well.
Is JBL Charge 3 Connect or Connect Plus?
The JBL Charge 3 has the JBL Connect technology. So, the JBL Charge 3 will only connect to other JBL speakers that have the JBL Connect technology.
What is the Difference Between PartyBoost and Connect Plus?
The PartyBoost technology and the JBL Connect Plus technology are the same technology with slight differences.
Each technology will connect JBL speakers to play the same audio across multiple speakers.
Also, each technology will allow you to play the same audio amongst 100 or more JBL speakers.
The difference between the two technologies is the distance that you can put between the speakers, as well as the speakers and the music source.
The JBL Connect Plus technology allows you to be as far as 30 ft. away from the speaker and still have uninterrupted audio.
The PartyBoost technology allows you to be up to 60 ft. away from the speaker and still have uninterrupted audio.
The newly released JBL speakers include the PartyBoost technology, but I would not recommend upgrading your speaker just to get the new PartyBoost technology.
This new technology is nice, but it does not provide a big enough difference to be worth upgrading.
How Can I Tell Which Technology My JBL Speaker has?
On the back of the speaker there should be a symbol indicating which technology that the speaker has.
The JBL Connect symbol looks like a sideways hourglass.
The JBL Connect Plus symbol is the same as the JBL Connect symbol, but there is a plus symbol in the top right of the sideways hourglass.
These symbols will be located where the on/off button and volume buttons are located on your speaker.
