Why won’t my AirPod case charge?
AirPods are reliable products, and there aren’t too many reasons why the AirPods charging case would have problems charging. In most cases, the problem is either with the charging pad or the cable you’re using.

No matter which type of AirPod charging case you have, there is an indicator light that can notify you that your case is successfully charging. The light is located on the front of both the MagSafe Charging Case and the Wireless Charging Case; the indicator light is under the lid of the regular AirPods case.
A green light indicates that your case is fully charged. Amber means that it is less than fully charged.
The indicator also shows the user when the device is ready to be paired or when it’s having trouble connecting. A flashing white light means it is ready to be paired, and a flashing amber light means the AirPods need to be reset.
How Long Do AirPods Case Take to Charge?
The AirPods case typically takes about an hour to charge. It varies slightly depending on whether you are using wireless charging or a wired connection. Generally speaking, you can expect the case to fully charge your AirPods three to four times before you need to recharge the case itself.
A fully charged AirPods case can provide you with about 20 hours of listening or talk time.
What Do I Do if My AirPods Case Won’t Charge?
The first thing you should do is try a different cable or wireless charging pad. It’s most likely that the problem is with your charging method rather than the case itself. Cables and charge pads for AirPods aren’t made to last forever, and you’ll likely need to replace them several times before you see any problems with the AirPods case itself.
If replacing your cable or charging pad doesn’t fix the issue, you should try switching wall outlets before trying anything else. If your charge cable or charging pad is connected to a power strip or surge protector, you should make sure that it’s turned to the on position. You can also try toggling the reset button on the power strip.
Why is My AirPod Case Not Charging?
If your AirPod case is not charging even after you switch cables and try different outlets, then it might be time to clean out your lightning port. A dirty lightning port could cause a bad connection and prevent electrical current from transmitting correctly.
How to Fix AirPod Case Not Charging?
Whether you have the normal AirPods or the AirPods Pro, you can charge your earbuds via cable. Just like mobile phones, the charging port of the AirPods charging case can get clogged up. Most of the time, you will notice that your cable is loose and not making a good connection, but there are instances where the lightning cable looks like it’s connected correctly when it’s actually not.
It’s rather easy to unclog a dirty charging port, and anyone can do it. Just take something small like a toothpick and rub the insides of the port gently. This will dislodge any dirt that’s built up inside the device.
It’s important to be careful and not use anything metal. A metal object could create a spark and destroy electrical components inside the AirPods charging case.
Other Issues
There’s not much else you can personally do if switching cables and cleaning your AirPods charging case doesn’t work. It might be time to take the AirPods into your local Apple store for repair.
Your local Apple Store will require your serial number. This number can be found on your proof of purchase, so make sure you bring it with you. The serial number can also be found on the original packaging of your AirPods.
Alternatively, you can mail in your AirPods and case for repair. Contact Apple support, and they will deliver you a prepaid shipping box that you can use to transport your product.

AirPods Warranty
AirPods come with a one-year limited warranty with all new purchases. This means Apple will repair your AirPods or case at no charge if they are broken due to manufacturing defects and other common problems. The warranty does not cover physical damage caused by you or water damage, though.
AirPods also have an extended warranty if you have AppleCare+. This covers accidental damage protection for a small service fee of $29. Apple will replace your AirPods and case if you have AppleCare+.
As for battery issues, Apple doesn’t charge a fee at all for a broken battery if the user has AppleCare+. Those that don’t have AppleCare+ will have to pay a service charge between $49 and $79 depending on which model of AirPods they have.
What if I Don’t Have the Warranty?
Apple also provides affordable replacement options for those that are outside of the limited warranty window or don’t have AppleCare+.
For AirPods Pro, it costs $89 for each AirPod. As for the normal case and the MagSafe case, it’ll cost $99 for a brand-new case. A replacement for the normal AirPods costs $69 each, and the normal charging case can be purchased directly from Apple for only $59. A wireless charging case will cost you $79.
The replacement options are also good for those who have lost a left or right AirPod; it doesn’t merely cover those who have damaged one of their earbuds.
