The Bose SoundSport wireless headphones are extremely handy devices.

But with multiple pairing functions, how do they work?

How Do I Pair My Bose Soundsport Bluetooth Headphones?

The Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones can be connected to the user’s phone via BlueTooth or Near Field Communication. Users can also pair their SoundSport Wireless headphones through the Bose Connect app. To activate BlueTooth pairing, press and hold the power button until the light turns blue.

If you just bought a pair of Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones and are having trouble pairing them, you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, you’ll learn about all the different ways to pair your headphones.

How to Pair Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones Via BlueTooth

BlueTooth is by far one of the easiest ways to pair your headphones with your phone or another listening device.

This pairing method is what we’re most familiar with.

To activate BlueTooth pairing on your Bose SoundSport, hold the power button down until you hear a voice say, “ready to pair.” Another sign that your headphones are ready to pair is that the small indicator light turns blue.

Go to the BlueTooth menu on your phone or other listening device and find your headphones on the list.

After selecting the Bose SoundSport headphones from the list, give them a moment to pair.

After pairing completes, you can start listening to music.

Ensure that your Bose SoundSport wireless headphones have a full charge before attempting to pair them with your phone.

A low battery could cause the headphones not to appear on your BlueTooth list.

If the headphones still don’t pair with your listening device, turn both devices off, wait a few seconds, power them back on, and try again.

If the pairing problems persist, contact Bose customer support.

While most of us are familiar with BlueTooth pairing, NFC is a less commonly known method for pairing devices.

That said, your Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones have NFC capabilities, so you should learn to use them.

But first, what even is NFC?

NFC, or near-field communication, is a type of technology that allows two devices to communicate with each other.

For Near Field Communication to work, the two devices both need to have NFC capabilities.

Additionally, the two devices need to be within four inches or less of each other.

So how do you know if your device has NFC capabilities? Many modern devices now feature this pairing technology.

Check the list below to see some of the most popular NFC devices.

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • Samsung Galaxy S21
  • Samsung Galaxy 8
  • Samsung S10e
  • Google Pixel 4 (and beyond)

As you can see, most of the popular smartphone brands offer NFC capabilities in their most recently produced devices.

Even some older devices have NFC capabilities.

For example, if you have the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or the iPhone X, you can access an NFC tag reader with the help of a free app.

Apps such as “NFC for iPhone,” “NFC Tools,” and “NFC-Helper” give these older devices the ability to pair using NFC.

You can use NFC capabilities for things other than pairing your Bose headphones.

Some devices use NFC to share WiFi passwords, make payments, and more.

For example, you can use your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus for Apple Pay.

Apple Pay requires NFC to operate.

That said, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus will not work with NFC apps to work with your Bose SoundSport headphones.

Since this type of pairing requires the two devices to be so close, Bose only uses these capabilities to make pairing the headphones via BlueTooth even easier.

Click the power button on your SoundSport wireless headphones.

Place the headphones next to your phone (or another NFC-enabled device).

A prompt will appear on your screen asking you to pair the headphones with your device via BlueTooth.

Click confirm and start listening to your music.

If no prompt appears, follow the instructions for pairing with BlueTooth above.

How to Pair Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones Via Bose Connect app

While you can pair your Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones directly to your phone to listen to music, you can also pair them with the Bose Connect app.

Start by downloading the Bose Connect app.

Once you have the app downloaded on your phone, either sign in or create a Bose account.

You will receive a prompt to enable both notifications and BlueTooth connectivity from the Bose Connect app.

With BlueTooth activated, the Bose Connect app will search for compatible devices (when they are in pairing mode).

If the app struggles to connect with the Bose Connect app, Bose recommends pairing the drive via BlueTooth or NFC first.

(You can find the instructions for this in the sections above.) After connecting the devices, reopen the Bose Connect app.

Once connected to the Bose Connect app, you have unlocked a plethora of features for your device.

You can do things like update your headphone’s software, clear the headphone’s memory, track your headphones if you lose them (using Tile technology), and more.

Nobody enjoys an alarm interrupting their music listening session, but if you need a reminder to do something, you can set an auto-off timer on your headphones with the Bose Connect app.

The Bose Connect app also allows you to change the volume level on your headphones.

Want to know how much more life your headphones have in them? You can use the Bose Connect app to check your SoundSport wireless headphone’s battery status.

Since the SoundSport wireless headphones only have 6 hours of battery life on one charge, it is important to stay notified of how long you have left.

Do you enjoy listening to music, podcast, or TV shows with your friends? If so, then pairing your SoundSport wireless headphones with the Bose Connect app is a must.

Through the Bose Connect app, you can share what you’re listening to with another pair of Bose headphones.

This feature comes in handy when watching or listening in dedicated quiet areas, such as the library.

The Bose Connect app is especially helpful if you own more than one Bose product.
