Can You Adjust The Bass On Beats Flex? [Solved!]

Beats Flex are a great deal in the lower budget headphone range.

Regularly priced at $69.99 and currently at a deal price of $49.99.

Getting Beats for under $100 is a steal, but those great savings come with some drawbacks.

You’ll find that Beats Flex don’t offer all of the same features as more expensive earbuds.

Can You Adjust The Bass On Beats Flex?

You can adjust the bass on your Beats Flex only by using a separate app with an equalizer function. Beats Flex do not have an app specifically to adjust the earbuds settings, but many apps, including the default Apple Music app, have equalizers that will allow you to adjust the bass on your Beats Flex.

For Android, you’ll have to look around for a music player that offers equalization options.

Luckily, there are quite a few to choose from.

All it takes is a little bit of searching, but don’t worry.

I’ve already done that searching for you.

In the next few sections, I’ll go into details about how to use the equalizer built-in to the Apple Music app and which apps will give you the same options or similar on Android.

Can You Change the Bass on Beats Flex?

The short answer is yes. The long answer is not as simple.

There are no specific settings app to control the audio equalization or bass settings of your Beats Flex

You will have to rely on the availability of these controls within the apps you use to listen to audio.

As previously stated, iPhone users can already do this with the default Music app designed by Apple.

If you want to take a look at what settings you can adjust, follow these steps:

  • Open the Music app.
  • Tap on the Settings option.
  • Then tap on “Music”.
  • There will be an option labeled “EQ”. Tap on it

Here you will be able to reduce or increase the bass levels of your audio as well as adjust other settings like Treble (mids) and Alto (highs).

It is important to remember that these settings are app-wide and not specific to your Beats Flex.

That means you switch to a different audio output device, you will need to readjust your equalization settings accordingly.

Just navigate back to the EQ settings in the Music app to adjust it how you want.

For Android, it works quite a bit differently.

You can either install a music player app that has equalization options such as BlackPlayer, Poweramp, and Neutron Player.

You can also download an equalizer application that applies across every audio output from your device like 10 Band Equalizer or Equalizer & Bass Booster.

How Do I Turn Up the Bass on My Beats Flex?

If you are using an iPhone with your Beats Flex, you can simply go to the Music app settings and turn it up.

To do this, follow the instructions in the previous section to get to your equalizer settings.

Once you are back in the ‘EQ’ section, find the slider bar for bass.

Tap your finger on the slider and pull it to the right. You may need to adjust it a few times to get the settings you want.

For Android, you’ll need to figure out which app you want to use.

There are a plethora of equalizer applications.

I’ll save you some searching time. Here’s a list of apps that will make it easy to adjust the bass of your Beats Flex:

  • SpotiQ
  • Poweramp Equalizer
  • Equalizer & Bass Booster
  • Equalizer FX
  • Music Equalizer
  • Music Volume EQ
  • Headphones Equalizer
  • Flat Equalizer
  • 10 Brands Equalizer Audio Player

After you download the equalizer you like, open it up. You’ll see the bands you can adjust as slider bars.

Bass will either be on the top of the list or on the bottom depending on how the developer decided to organize their user interface.

How Do I Change the EQ on My Beats Flex?

EQ, or equalization, is managed the exact same way as turning up or turning down the bass.

In fact, adjusting the bass output of your audio is equalization even if it’s only on one band.

Just to reiterate, EQ settings for an iPhone are adjusted through the Music app.

Open the Music app. Then tap on settings.

Find the ‘Music’ options in the settings list. Then tap on ‘EQ’.

Here you will be able to adjust five different bands for your audio.

If you don’t quite understand how each band affects your audio, try playing a song while you play around with the settings.

You’ll notice the difference rather quickly.

For Android, you’ll have to download an app with equalization options or an app that adjust equalization across the board.

In the previous section, I gave a list of equalization apps.

There are many more than those listed, but it’s a start.

Just to add to your available options, here is a list of music players for Android that offers equalization:

  • VLC for Android
  • Equalizer
  • Volume Boost, Bass Boost + Equalizer Sound Booster
  • Music Equalizer

These options all function very similarly with different user interfaces and quality differences.

You may need to experiment around with different applications to find the one that suits you best.

I suggest starting with the VLC player as it is a tried and true application.

How Do I Increase the Bass on My Beats Headphones?

All Beats headphones are developed by Apple.

Thus, the equalization has been left to the Music app on iOS and macOS.

Apple-designed it this way so that the experience felt more built-in to the software.

The reality is that it was built-in into the software.

Apple’s purchase of Beats by Dre was to help boost their capability when it comes to dealing with audio settings and equipment.

To adjust your bass on an Apple device:

  • Open the Music app.
  • Select Settings > Music > EQ.
  • Hold and slide the bass option to adjust the bass up or down.

It really is that simple.

If you are using your Beats with a Windows device, the process is similar but a little different.

Follow these steps:

  • Open “Settings”.
  • Find the option for “Devices”
  • Click on “Bluetooth and other devices”
  • Then click on “Related settings”
  • Find the option for “Sound settings”
  • Double-click on your Beats.
  • You will see a few different tabs, switch over to the “Enhancements” tab.
  • Click the box next to “Equalizer” to enable your EQ options.

You should now see the different EQ options you can adjust.

For Android, follow the instructions in the previous sections that detail a few different applications that offer the ability to adjust sound equalization.

FAQ

Is there an app specifically for adjusting my Beats audio settings?

There is not. Apple-designed Beats to feel like a perfect integrated match with the Apple ecosystem.

That means they embedded the equalization options into the Music app that is a part of macOS and iOS.

Unfortunately, that means if you are using your Beats with a device outside of the Apple ecosystem, you will have to adjust the settings either through those operating systems’ available options or a third-party application.

Don’t worry too much about it, though. Equalization apps usually function very well.

Should I turn up the bass on my Beats?

Equalization and bass settings are a personal preference.

While I would recommend turning the bass up a notch or two, there’s no need to go crazy with it.

If your bass is too high, it can damage your earbuds or headphones if the volume is too high.
