How do you transfer your apps to a new iPhone?
To transfer apps to your new iPhone, you can back up your old iPhone to the iCloud or iTunes, then set up your new iPhone. Then, on your new iPhone, restore the data from your backup, then reinstall the apps from the App store.
You can also use one of many third-party apps to transfer your data.
In this post, we’ll go over some methods for doing so, as well as some of the best apps to help with the process. Read on to learn more!
Backup your old iPhone to iCloud or iTunes
Before you do anything, you’ll want to make sure all of your data is backed up. The easiest way to do this is with iCloud or iTunes. If you use iCloud, open the Settings app and tap on your name at the top.
Then, select “iCloud” and scroll down to “Backup.” Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on, and tap “Back Up Now” to start the process.
If you use iTunes, connect your old iPhone to your computer and open up iTunes. Then, click on the device icon in the upper-left corner and select “Backups.” Make sure that “iCloud Backup” is turned on, and click “Back Up Now” to start the process.
Once your Backup is complete, you can move on to the next step.
Set Up Your New iPhone
Now it’s time to set up your new iPhone. If you’re coming from an iPhone 6s or earlier, you’ll need to insert your SIM card into the new phone before you begin.
Once that’s done, turn on your new iPhone and follow the instructions on the screen. When you get to the “Apps & Data” screen, select “Restore from iCloud Backup.” Then, sign in with your iCloud account and select the Backup that you want to use.
If you’re coming from an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, you can use the “Quick Start” feature to transfer your data.
Simply hold your old iPhone next to your new one and follow the instructions on the screen.
Restore Your Data From The Backup
Once you’ve set up your new iPhone, it’s time to restore your data from the Backup. To do this, open the Settings app and tap on your name at the top. Then, select “iCloud” and scroll down to “Storage.” Tap on “Manage Storage” and then select the Backup that you want to use.
Tap on the “Restore” button and wait for the process to complete.
If you’re restoring from an iTunes backup, connect your new iPhone to your computer and open up iTunes.
Click on the device icon in the upper-left corner and select “Restore Backup.” Then, choose the Backup that you want to use and click “Restore.”
Install Apps from the App Store
Once your new iPhone is up and running, you’ll need to install your apps. The easiest way to do this is by opening the App Store and tapping on the “Purchased” tab. Here, you’ll see all of the apps that you’ve purchased in the past. Simply tap on the “Download” button next to each app to download it to your new phone.
If you have a lot of apps, this process can take some time. You can speed things up by using an app like App shopper or App shopper Lite.
These apps keep track of the apps you have installed on your device and can quickly show you which ones need to be updated.
Transferring Photos
If you want to transfer your photos, there are a few different methods you can use. The easiest way is to use the iCloud Photo Library. This feature will upload all of your photos to iCloud and then download them onto your new phone.
To turn on iCloud Photo Library, open the Settings app and tap on “Photos.” Then, scroll down and tap on “iCloud Photos.” Make sure that the “Download and Keep Originals” option is turned on.
If you don’t want to use iCloud Photo Library, you can also use the “Photo Stream” feature. This will upload your most recent photos to iCloud and then download them onto your new phone.
To turn on Photo Stream, open the Settings app and tap on “Photos.” Then, scroll down and tap on “My Photo Stream.” Make sure that the “iCloud Photo Sharing” switch is turned on.
Finally, you can also use a third-party app like Google Photos or Dropbox. These apps will upload your photos to their respective servers and then allow you to download them onto your new phone.
Use the Move to iOS app
If you’re switching from an Android phone to an iPhone, you can use the free “Move to iOS” app to transfer your data. To use the app, you’ll need to have your old Android phone and your new iPhone handy.
First, make sure that both devices are connected to Wi-Fi. Then, on your Android phone, open the “Move to iOS” app and tap “Continue.” On the next screen, tap “Agree” to agree to the terms and conditions.
On the “Find Your Code” screen, tap “Continue.”
Next, on your iPhone, open the “Move from Android” app and tap “Continue.” On the next screen, tap “Agree” to agree to the terms and conditions. On the “Find Your Code” screen, tap “Continue.”
Now, on your Android phone, you should see a 10-digit code. Enter this code on your iPhone. On the next screen, you’ll be able to select what data you want to transfer.
Make your selections and tap “Next.” The transfer process will take a few minutes, and once it’s done, all of your selected data will be on your new iPhone.
Use a third-party app
There are also a number of third-party apps that can help you transfer data from your old phone to your new one. Some of our favorites include “Copy My Data,” “Phone Transfer,” and “My Phone Companion.”
To use one of these apps, you’ll need to download it to both your old phone and your new phone. Once it’s installed, open the app and follow the instructions on how to transfer your data. The process will vary depending on the app, but most of them are pretty straightforward.
Erase all content and settings on your old iPhone
Once you’ve transferred all of your data to your new iPhone, it’s time to erase all of the content on your old iPhone. This is important because it will prevent someone from being able to access your personal data if they were to get their hands on your old phone.
To do this, open the Settings app on your old iPhone and tap “General.” Then, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap “Reset.” On the next screen, tap “Erase All Content and Settings.” You’ll be prompted to enter your passcode, so go ahead and do that.
Once you’ve entered your passcode, you’ll see a warning message telling you that all of your data will be erased.
Tap “Erase iPhone” to confirm. The process will take a few minutes, and once it’s done, your old iPhone will be wiped clean.
Now, you can either sell or give away your old iPhone without worry. Just make sure that you remove your SIM card first!
